Holding a position of responsibility is required for ranks Star, Life, and Eagle. These positions give Scouts genuine leadership experience and teach accountability, time management, and teamwork.
Current Troop 31 Leadership
Senior Patrol Leader
Elected leader of the troop. Leads meetings and the Patrol Leaders' Council.
Assistant Senior Patrol Leader
Supports the SPL and leads specific program areas.
Patrol Leader
Leads a patrol of 6–8 Scouts and represents it on the PLC.
Scribe
Records attendance and meeting minutes; helps track advancement records.
Quartermaster
Manages all troop equipment, tents, cooking gear, and supplies.
Webmaster
Maintains and updates the troop website with current news and information.
Historian
Keeps a scrapbook of troop activities, photos, and achievements.
Bugler
Sounds the bugle calls for flag ceremonies, meals, and other troop activities at camp.
Instructor
Teaches Scouting skills to younger Scouts working toward rank advancement.
Requirements
Positions must be held actively for the required period (4 months for Star; 6 months for Life and Eagle). Simply holding a title is not enough — a Scout must faithfully perform the duties of the position to receive credit.
