Philmont Scout Ranch, near Cimarron, New Mexico, is the BSA's flagship high adventure base. Its 137,000 acres of rugged wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains offer one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences in Scouting.

The Trek

A Philmont trek lasts 10–14 days and covers 50–100 miles of backcountry hiking. Crews of 6–12 Scouts and advisors carry everything on their backs, navigating from staffed camp to staffed camp.
